I am not currently doing anything with my degree, but I hope to eventually have a job working as a special agent for the IRS. I don’t have a lot to say right now, but hope to post more later.

Today is the last day of my undergraduate accounting class. I am finishing up with ACC397: Advanced Topics in Accounting Research. This is basically a review class. This consists of financial statements, tax, audit, and even managerial accounting. I just finished up my final exam. Normally, I don’t blog about my school or about other classes, but this time it has just hit me that I am almost finished with my undergraduate studies. Today, I turn in my final exam, and also my last individual assignment.

I guess I have one more class left, which is what my point is. This last class is called Religion 133: World Religions. This class will last 5 weeks, and then I am done. I am not sure how this class is going to go. However, I have been told that this class talks mostly about the eastern religions. So, maybe I will learn something new. That is something that I am hoping for. After this class is done, then I go onto classes that are 6 weeks long.

Well, today is one of those days that I had always planned for. I always thought that this day wouldn’t come either. The day that I am speaking of is my graduation from college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. I am an online student at the University of Phoenix, but I am participating in graduation ceremonies with the Boise, Idaho campus. I am on my way to the Grove Hotel, which is where my graduation is going to take place here is just a couple of hours. However, I am not done with school quite yet. I am planning on starting my Masters of Science in Accounting in July. That program will take about a year to complete.

This is a big step in my life, that I am truly grateful for. I am especially grateful for my dear sweet wife, for her patience and help along the way. I don’t think I would have been able to do as well as I have, without her helping me along the way. She was always there to make sure that I got my homework done before I did extra curricular activities. I also know that she will continue to help me along the way as I pursue the rest of my schooling and career dreams.

I was browsing the blog for Anniversary Inn, and came across this great post, so I thought I would share it.

With the pressures and speed of daily life, it is easy to forget that our marriages need to be nurtured in the same way we would nurture a small plant in our kitchen window. With our plant, we need to give it sunlight and water on a regular basis. It doesn’t take much, just a small amount of water and a little sun will keep the plant growing and over time you will see a beautiful bloom of color and life.

Our marriages need the same attention. It doesn’t require much, just a loving glance here, and an affectionate touch there, but that small amount of nurturing will keep the love between you blooming and full of color and life.

Here are 5 small acts you can do each day to ensure your loved one knows you still care:

1) Kiss her goodbye before leaving for work.

2) Send him a text saying “Hi”

3) Find one thing to complement her on.

4) Ask him how his day was and then listen to him tell you.

5) Hold her hand while watching TV.

I am a pretty big nascar fan. I am not a “fan” of Carl Edwards. However, I do enjoy watching him. Sunday’s race at Atlanta Motor Speedway was an exception. I didn’t watch the race, but I watched some clips afterwards. There was one incident where I think Carl Edwards needs to be fined, or suspended or even both for what he did.

Take a Look here:

If I was a betting man, which I am not, I would bet that this was a severe case of retaliation. There was an incident earlier in the race, where Brad Keslowski bumped Carl Edwards. You can also view that here:

You are free to voice your opinion, but this looks like a blantant form of retaliation.

I will not go into a whole lot of detail about how the game it played, or about what goes on during the game. For that, you can go to the Website for Carcassonne. I have all the “large” expansions, and most of the smaller expansions. I am excited, because this year, they are coming out with 2 more expansions. There is a “large” expansion coming out called “Bridges, Castles & Baazars“. Then there is also a “small” expansion coming out called “Crop Circle & Tunnels”, this one is actually a combination of two mini expansions. But anyway, I am most excited for the “Bridges, Castles, & Baazars”, because I love all of the Large expansions.

I just found what I think is such a wonderful tool. This new tool that I found is located at Mint.com. This is probably one of the best budgeting tools that I have ever seen. I first caught mention of this website when I was helping a friend finish his taxes. Later, I rediscovered it when I was helping another friend to find an alternative to Microsoft Money, because Microsoft is no longer supporting this software.

Once I got online, I discovered that I with this tool, I can synchronize bank accounts, credit cards, loans, investments, and even add assets that I own. This tool is completely free to use, and will synchronize nightly. You can also go through after you have organized expenses, and create a budget. This is a pretty neat tool, because I can tell how I am doing for the month for anything from groceries, to entertainment. I have faith that this can help keep me on a better financial journey.

I have mentioned in a previous post that I am trying to get into the whole social networking, and social media. Well, my quest continues with a new discovery. I have recently become interested in being able to send out coupons to customers via text message. I have not yet, been able to find a way to do this. I know that services for this type of thing exist, but I also need to find something that is very cheap and affordable, and so far I have not been able to find this.

My goal is to get something where I could get on, and send out a message to anyone that has “subscribed”. I could send out coupons, special rates, or even a text message informing our guests of what is going on in the Bar.

Lately, I have been playing around with the Beta Version of Microsoft Office 2010. I downloaded the Professional Plus version, because I wanted to be able to play around with several of the programs. There are several things that I have liked so far about the new version. One of those, is that with PowerPoint, I can create a PowerPoint presentation, and then have it saved as a Windows Media File. This has been great for me, because I work for the Rodeway Inn, and we have a couple of PowerPoints that we are trying to save to a video file. We were able to do it using software that was created for just that purpose. However, unless I wanted to pay $80+ for the software, then there was always a “watermark” somewhere in the video.

One other feature that I love, is available with all the new Office Products, and that is Sharepoint. This allows a single file to be worked on simultaneously by multiple users. All one has to do, is to upload to the Sharepoint “Cloud”, and then give the others the link, and you can all work on the file at the same time. This is possible with Excel Spreadsheets, Word Documents, Access Databases, PowerPoint Presentations, etc.

For More Info, go to Microsoft’s Office Website.
